On November 1, 2025, the "JAPAN FURNITURE SHOW by IFFT 2025" exhibition, showcasing Japanese furniture culture from a new perspective, was held for the first time at Tokyo Midtown (Roppongi).
With Midtown Garden as the main venue, the event featured a variety of programs, including outdoor exhibitions, talk sessions, and special exhibitions touring shops and showrooms throughout Tokyo, allowing visitors to rediscover the charm of "JAPAN FURNITURE."
Creative direction was handled by Seiichi Saito and Jin Kuramoto, spatial design by Yusuke Mizobata, and graphic design by Akio Kinoshita of 6D.
Creators leading Japan's design scene gathered to envision a new future for furniture culture.
Felix also participated in the talk session.
Other panelists included master designers such as Motomi Kawakami, Naoto Fukasawa, and Keiji Ashizawa, who continue to disseminate furniture design to the world, with Mr. Saito and Mr. Kuramoto serving as facilitators.
It was a precious dialogue session with a luxurious lineup of figures symbolizing the Japanese design world.
Felix is based in Higashiyoshino Village, Nara Prefecture, and works on themes of forestry and sustainable timber use.
Aiming for "the fusion of local materials and design," they spoke about the future of Japanese furniture culture based on knowledge cultivated through living with nature.
Their perspective, which connects regional materials and the skills of artisans to contemporary design, garnered much empathy as an attempt to redefine "Japanese furniture" within a global context.
This event re-examined the value of Japanese furniture and, as a place where tradition and innovation intersect, surely brought new discoveries to each participant.
To everyone involved in "JAPAN FURNITURE SHOW by IFFT 2025," we sincerely thank you for this wonderful opportunity.
We will continue to promote the appeal of Japanese materials and regions to the world through design.
